Gavin Stark, Viscount Derington, and Lady Felicity Danby were the best of childhood friends. Then one day, Gavin realizes he is in love with Felicity. But just as he is about to propose, she has an announcementshe is engaged to someone else. Gavin puts a lock on his heart, and Felicity marries Ian Cadgwith and becomes pregnant. Felicity's happy marriage, though, is not to be. Her husband dies before their baby is born. After a proper period of mourning, Felicity once again joins society. But now that she is free, Gavin's not so sure he wants to risk loving her again. Gavin and Felicity soon find the courtship dance is not so easy the second time around.
